Ph.D. in Education - Specialty in Educational Leadership
Goals
Develop the student’s understanding of contemporary educational leadership and the difference between educational leadership and administration.
Provide students with knowledge of historical and contemporary educational leadership theories and the ability to analyze and critique these theories.
Instill within the students an understanding of contemporary educational approaches in K-12 and higher education.
Enable the students to evaluate the educational landscape and develop strategies that help their institutions succeed.
Provide the students with the skills to design, analyze, critique and conduct educational research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
Develop the student’s ability to apply leadership knowledge and skills to lead K-12 schools and institutions of higher education in a time of change.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME
Demonstrate an understanding of educational leadership theories and the ability to apply these theories to K-12 and higher education institutions.
Differentiate between educational leadership and educational management and develop effective educational leadership and management practices.
Analyze and critique developments in contemporary education and make leadership decisions in educational institutions that promote student learning and development.
Evaluate the challenges and opportunities of the current educational landscape and formulate policies to help an educational institution achieve its goals.
Assess the impact of change on educational institutions and demonstrate leadership skills in managing the change.
Employ analytical skills to conduct research on current issues and challenges in educational leadership.
Develop and exhibit a high standard of professional practice, demonstrating awareness of ethical and social responsibilities when working with faculty, staff and students.
