Call for Admission Applications for Fall semester of academic year 2020/2021

The Deanship of Admission and Registration has opened receiving applications for admission at the Arab American University for Fall 2020/2021. The following table shows the offered programs and admission criteria:

PhD in Business
( Admission not available for current semester )

Applicant must be a holder of Bachelor and a Master degrees from universities or recognized academic institutions by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. One of the two degrees must be in a business-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the Master’s degree or 2.60 in the Bachelor’s degree or their equivalent, and have an official valid GMAT score with (500) points or higher, and Succeeding in the personal interview.

PhD in Educational Administration

Applicant must hold a Master & Bachelor degree with an average of “Very Good” in relevant specializations in education field in one of the two degrees from a recognized academic institution by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Pass the personal interview.

Location: Arab American University ( AAUP ) Campus - Ramallah​

PhD in Special Education

Applicant must be a holder of a Master’s degree of at least a “Very Good” standing and a Bachelor’s degree of at least a “Good” standing, and his specialization in one of the two degrees in the field of special education, psychology, counseling or mental health, from a recognized academic institution by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Pass the personal interview.

Location: Arab American University ( AAUP ) Campus - Ramallah

Phd in Nursing

Applicant must be a holder of a Master’s degree of at least a “Very Good” standing and a Bachelor’s degree of at least a “Good” standing, and his specialization in one of the two degrees in Nursing field from a recognized academic institution by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Pass the personal interview, and Pass the English placement test.

PhD in Information Technology Engineering
(Joint with Palestine Polytechnic University and Al-Quds University)

  1. Applicant must be a holder of a Master’s degree (or equivalent) of at least a “Very Good” standing and a Bachelor’s degree of at least a “Good” standing in a relevant specialization in Information Technology Engineering
  2. Applicant must hold Bachelor & Master Certificates and Transcript. (certified by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research).
  3. Pass the personal interview with the program committee.
  4. The applicant must hold a valid TOEFL or IELTS grade not lease than 450 score in TOEFL exam or a relevant score in the IELTS exam. Or hold a bachelor's or master's degree from a university in a foreign country whose primary language is English.

PhD in Physics

Applicant must be a holder of a Master’s degree of at least a “Very Good” standing and a Bachelor’s degree of at least a “Good” standing, in Physics or any related field, from a recognized academic institution by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, And pass the English placement test..

Acceptance Instructions
  • Applications are accepted at the beginning of the first semester every two years where they’re asked to read the application attached instructions.
  • The Arab American University accepts students in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  • Holds a bachelor and master degree and the certificate should qualify the student to join the program.
  • The ability of choosing a program is also limited to the minimum score requirements in the bachelor and master certificate GPA.
  • Students with a bachelor or Master certificate other than a Palestinian, will have their averages computed according to the University Council regulations.
  • Students can fill the online application through the link (www.aaup.edu/apply)
  • To obtain the application from the Deanship of Admission and Registration and is filled manually, then the applicant submits the application to the deanship of admission and registration at Jenin or at Ramallah campus. (Apply for PhD in Information Technology Engineering)

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FROM STUDENTS
  1. Fill out and submit the AAUP Application Form
  2. Copy of the High School certificate (in Arabic or English) certified or equivalent by the Palestinian Ministry of Education
  3. Original copies or certified photocopies (English) of the academic certificates and transcripts issued by all universities and academic institutions the applicant has enrolled or graduated from to join the program and be certified or equivalent by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  4. Two original recommendation letters either academic or professional. 
  5. Three original recommendation letters (English) from professors or business officers addressed to the Arab American University and the University of Indiana. The recommendations must: (for PhD in Business)
    • Holds the organization logo to which the referee belongs
    • Got the referee’s signature
    • States the applicant's (at least) triple name according to his/ her academic certificate
    • Mentions the name of the program (PhD in Business)
  6. Original experience certificate (English) if found (Mandatory for PhD in Business)
  7. Original copies or certified copy of the GMAT certificate (for PhD in Business)
  8. Original motivation written and signed by the applicant. ( one to three pages )
  9. Original motivation (English) addressed to the Arab American University and the University of Indiana, written and signed by the applicant to join the program. It is required to be as followed: (for PhD in Business)
    • To be between one to three pages
    • Include the program's enrollment objectives, academic and practical experience, and the skills of the applicant
    • Clarify any inconsistencies, confusion or ambiguity between work and study, if found, in the applicant’s CV
  10. Writing samples of previous professional and research ones that measure the applicant written and research skills to join the program (English) (for PhD in Business)
  11. Up-to-date resume (English) (for PhD in Business)
  12. Original birth certificate or a duly certified copy
  13. Copy of the ID (local applicants) or a copy of the passport (international applicants)
  14. Recent personal photo (2 pictures)
  15. Applicants for PhD in Business program in partnership with Indiana University - Pennsylvania, USA, must submit the required documents in English (2 Copies)

 

Academic System and Student Load
The normal course load for a full-time student during any semester (spring or fall) is considered to range from 6-12 credit hours. Such a load allows students the opportunity to complete the requirements of the PhD’s degree in four years.

The course load for the PhD in Business program is 18 credit hours per academic year.

As for the PhD in Information Technology Engineering program, Thesis hours are calculated within the course load. The maximum course load for the summer semester is 6 credit hours. The student must be free for a period of no less than two regular semesters while working on the thesis.
