Clinical Simulation Lab

In clinical simulation lab, future student nurses learn permanent, excellent competencies and treatment techniques by practicing true clinical skills in a safe and regulated environment. Scenarios are developed by simulation educators that allow the student nurse to ‘practice as in the real life of experiences in center settings. Scenarios are designed so that the students can complete the learning objectives with the time allotted to the simulation. Practice on simulators with life-like manikins that simulate heart and lung tones and other vital cues when connected to monitors, providing real-time information to students in many specialties like adult, maternity, pediatric and advanced nursing.

Students trained to portray scenarios, the future of nursing education, and exhibit rehearsal of patients` roles, family members or others in order to allow students to practice physical exam skills, history taking skills, communication skills and other exercises.

The process passes through the followings:

  1. Simulation pre-briefing: is the period prior to the simulation scenario which might extend to one week prior to the actual simulation experience. The student is expected to prepare for the scenario.
  2. Simulation scenario: in which the patient’s response will depend on the interventions of the student. An attempt is made to match the simulation scenario to the clinical setting as much as possible.
  3. Simulation debriefing: during this time, the instructor reflects on students` behaviors and performance and decides whether it was appropriate or whether changes in student’s knowledge or interventions are needed, and consider how nursing theory is actually applied to nursing practice.

Attached are examples of some scenarios and manual for all the core nursing courses are prepared and ready to deliver simulation scenarios in a weekly basis.
