The management information systems (MIS) course is designed for business school students, and provides insight into how today's businesses leverage information technologies and systems to achieve corporate objectives. Providing comprehensive and integrative coverage of essential new technologies and information system applications, as well their impact on business models and managerial decision-making. This course addresses introductory concepts of digital firms, types of systems used in the enterprise, and topics related infrastructure that is e-business related. In addition, the course presents the role of information and computer-based information systems in managing business organizations. The topics cover hardware and software concepts, strategic use of information technology, applications such as database, and telecommunications. The course focuses on information systems in business from a managerial perspective. The overall objective is to understand the strategic role of the information systems in enterprise.
