The course aims to introduce students to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in terms of its components, features, uses, capabilities, and limitations. The course includes an overview of the history and development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the parts and requirements of these systems, map analysis, space structures, data representation and analysis, in addition to presenting the latest developments in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Moreover, the course includes topics like identifying the importance and feasibility of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the various applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), coding, the necessary and available software for its computer uses, how to manage spatial information, maps and coordinate systems, and benefit from it in the areas of planning and expanding new projects, and the applied fields of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
