The course provides an introduction to mechanisms of immunity in man and animals. General properties of immune responses; cells and tissues of the immune system; lymphocyte activation and specificity; effector mechanisms; immunity to microbes; immunodeficiency and AIDS; auto immune diseases; transplantation will be introduced. The Serology part will cover the in vitro antigen- antibody reaction. It includes the tests that will have known antisera of defined antibody as a reagent to detect the corresponding antibody.
