General (systemic) pharmacology describes the principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, the biological actions, clinical applications, side effects, toxicities and contraindications of drugs acting on automatic nervous system, cardiovascular system, blood, central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, renal system, respiratory system, and pharmacology of antineoplastics and their their significant drug-drug interactions related to dental practice. The course is also involved in studying geriatric pharmacology and medically compromised dental patients. Practical sessions illustrate prescription writing, pharmacokinetic calculations, drug forms and routes of drug administration.
