The course will focus on the main branches in biotechnology: Plant, Animal and Microbial biotechnology and their various applications in agricultural, medical, environmental and industrial as well as Forensic fields including Molecular diagnosis. Coverage includes transgenic plant and insect, transgenic animal, genetically modified food, biosafety, therapeutic cloning, the human genome project and genetic testing; gene therapy; pharmacogenomics, bioremediation, preservation of biodiversity, Biological Fuel Generation, bioprocess technology and their applications, DNA fingerprinting and bioethics.
