This course examines the concepts, techniques and applications of operations management and provides an overview of planning, operating, and controlling production of goods and services. Topics include product and process planning and design, business process analysis, resource requirements planning, forecasting, supply chain management, statistical control and quality management. The objective of this course is to provide students with the frameworks to relate the effectiveness of operations management to the overall performance of manufacturing and service operations. Students will develop skills to analyze and optimize the operational processes used to design, produce, distribute, and deliver goods and services. This course serves as a foundation for future courses in quality management, statistical product control, lean management and technical six sigma.
