This course examines the field of quality management and provides an overview of the techniques for managing, controlling and improving quality. Topics covered include the history, theory and applications of quality management, as well as an examination of quality from a customer, workforce and process focus perspective. Special emphasis will be placed on process improvement and six sigma The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the foundations of quality management and prepare them to plan, implement and maintain a quality management program in an organization. Students will learn how to choose appropriate projects and how to apply statistical tools and techniques to design for quality and product excellence and to measure and control quality.
