This course is an overview of the cost of quality techniques used by managements to improve quality and profitability. Topics covered include an overview of quality cost categories, collection and use of quality cost data, reducing costs through quality improvements and implementing a quality cost program. Emphasis will be placed on reducing costs and increasing profitability through improved customer satisfaction. The objective of this course is to provide students with the ability to use cost of quality tools to strategically lead quality improvement efforts and reduce costs in their organizations. Students will use the principles of financial management to gather and analyze cost data on process quality as well as product and service quality. This course examines the link between cost of quality and customer satisfaction and serves as a foundation to measure and improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
