This course is an overview of the principles and techniques of Six Sigma quality management. Topics covered include project selection and management, building Six Sigma teams, the Balanced Scorecard approach and the phases of DMAIC methodology. Special emphasis will be placed on integrating Six Sigma projects with other initiatives and the implementation of Six Sigma for strategic management of an organization. The objective of this course is to provide students with the ability to apply Six Sigma principles and implementation strategies to improve business processes throughout an organization. Students will learn to lead a successful process improvement project and team and will use advanced statistical techniques and statistical software (including Minitab) to address the issues that face their organization. This course will serve as a foundation for students interested in taking the Six Sigma Black Belt exam.
