The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamental aspects for construction professionals enrolled in the Master of Construction Management, to have an advanced and integrated understanding of the role of law and its application to the industry. The course examines the allocation of risk in the context of the condition of standard contracts, and assesses the roles, management and applications over a range of legal documents including letters of intent and collateral warranties. This course seeks to help the students understand and evaluate construction contracts, their application and execution, as well as the legal aspects of construction. The course is designed to make the students develop a systematic understanding of the knowledge and critical awareness of the issues and opportunities for the management of construction projects. The course prepares the students to be aware of the legal and organizational factors at play in the construction industry and the methods available for managing/ resolving disputes that may occur during the execution of projects
