The primary functions of the digestive system are the digestion and absorption of food. This course provides instruction in the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the digestive system. Instruction focuses on structural anatomy and relationships, histology, embryology, and physiology of the digestive system. It includes etiology, pathology, signs, symptoms, risk factors, treatment and possible prevention of its diseases.  More concentration is put on some common digestive system diseases, as peptic ulcer, colon cancer, hepatitis and cirrhosis.
