The course is designed to introduce medical students to the basics of genomic medicine including Foundations in Clinical Genetics, Cancer Genetics, Reproductive Genetics, and Medical Genetics. Students will understand the pathophysiology, inheritance pattern, recurrence risk, and management of genetic disorders. This course is mainly aimed to be tailored to equip healthcare professionals with the needed skills to tackle the burden of hereditary and genetic diseases prevalent in the Palestinian population.Through the discussion of real case scenarios, drawn up from prevalent local genetic disease conditions, students will learn the concepts and tools used to analyze and interpret data from next-generation sequencing (NGS) through learning variant analysis and interpretation skills.
