The Emergency Medicine 4weeks rotation utilizes a variety of well-supervised clinical settings exposing students to a broad array of patients as well as organized interactive learning experiences and directed readings allowing motivated students to establish a solid foundation of skills and knowledge for their future career choices. This clerkship is designed to expose students to the fundamentals of emergency care with a focus on the initial triage, evaluation and management of the undifferentiated patient. Priority is placed on the "complaint-based" evaluation with a principle goal of identifying and treating life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Emphasis will be placed on initiating resuscitation and stabilization before a conclusive diagnosis is made.
