Pre-Requisites : 220111050

The course deals with the concepts affecting the profession of journalism in light of the different environments in which it operates and is active within. Monitor journalism is the essence of journalism and the source of its legitimacy is derived from citizens. Self-censorship is a disease that has become like a sword hanging over the journalist’s neck because it has become amplified and it increases in light of the narrowing of the profession. The two concepts may seem similar, but they are opposites. Accordingly, the course delves into the philosophies that are based on the profession of journalism and considers its role and the obstacles to fulfilling this role and the soft methods of intervention that are practiced against the profession that lead to the decline of its roles of supervision, and provide a deep dive into the concept and a distinction between self-censorship and moral censorship. Moreover, the course discusses professional standards whose source is the journalist and his place of work.
