The course presents a scientific and organized entry into the debate and discussion that took place about freedom of opinion, expression, concepts of social control on dialogue platforms, understanding the impact of new media technologies on our ability to access and exchange ideas and information, and presenting views and questions raised about the limits of freedom and the impact of media on democracy. The course addresses contemporary challenges to democracy presented by the Internet, and includes topics of disinformation, polarization, hate speech, media transformation, election integrity, and the legal regulation of Internet platforms.
