This course gives students an introduction to the basic concepts and techniques used to generate 3D models. Students will learn the principles and practice of modeling in polygons, NURBS, and subdivision surfaces. Students will also learn to apply textures and materials to those models, and render them with appropriate materials, lighting, and cameras. The course covers the chronological order of the states and phases that the modeling passes through. In addition, this course will provide a basis for further study in computer animation and game design – using MAYA - one of the most advanced modeling and animation software packages.
