AAUP Concludes the Activities of the Palestinian Day for Media Simulation in Ramallah Campus

The Faculty of Modern Media in Arab American University concluded the activities of the “Palestinian Day for Media Simulation” that was organized over two days in Ramallah Campus, under collaboration with the Ministry of Education and some media, educational and civil organizations that are interested in the media education. The event targeted the high school students of public and private schools in Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Jerusalem and Birzeit areas.

Dr. Hanadi Dwaikat- the Dean of the Faculty of Modern Media in AAUP confirmed that the event was successful and that the message was delivered to the targeted group as planned.

She also thanked all who contributed to make this day a successful one and clarified that this day will be an annual tradition for the Faculty of Modern Media with the local partners.

Dr. Dwaikat explained that the event had many goals such as to create an area of communication between high school students and the media and civil organizations in order to introduce students to such organizations and how they perform, and to introduce students to the three programs of Faculty of Modern Media which are: “Digital Media, Public Relations and Communication and Social Media”, in addition to introduce students to the traditional and digital media organizations and open communication channels with them.

Almost 300 students from public and private schools in their higher school years attended the event in its second day and visited the booths of the media and civil organizations who presented their works and tasks that they provide to the Palestinian community, and they visited the areas that focused on the programs of the Faculty of Modern Media to know how the labor market needs such specializations and areas.

The media organizations also presented a show about their working mechanisms, about the methods of broadcasting, photography, directing, sound recording and digital presentations in the different shapes and forms of digital media.

Students took a tour in the photography fair under the name “Can you tell the difference?!” and it included pictures from different places from the historical Palestine that were blended with each other in a way to offer viewers a chance to know the places of the photos in the divided geography of Palestine that was divided by the occupation.

The high school students who attended the event of the “Palestinian Day for Media Simulation” expressed their happiness in such activities and said that they benefited from this day as they knew the programs of the university in an official, digital and attractive way, in addition to knowing the main jobs and positions that the Palestinian market will be requesting in the coming years. Furthermore, they asked for such event to be planned regularly as it has positive effect and impact on them.

Students also visited the departments of the Faculty of Modern Sciences such as the Interior Architecture Department, the Optics Department and the Digital Marketing Department.  

Representatives of schools admired the event and the way it was organized, especially how it let students to walk around the departments as groups and interact positively with them.

Also teachers who escorted the students wished that such activities will be continuous to achieve a great interaction between students and universities in the different departments.

The partner organizations that participated in this event were Palestine TV, Fajer TV, Wattan News, Alhaya News, Ajyal network, Jerusalem 24, in addition to the community, civil and educational organizations such as Injaz, BYALARA, Burj Alluqluq Social Center Society from Jerusalem, Yassir Arafat Museum, Sharek Youth Forum and Palestinian Vision Organization. Moreover, some special individuals participated who has good experience in this field such as Alaa Badarneh- the photographer and Rabee Jaradat- the Graphic Designer.

At the end of the event, AAUP had a meeting with the partner organizations and the volunteering students to evaluated the event and the activities and stress on the strong points in order to develop the event more in the coming years.
