The Arab American University in Ramallah and Premier Hospital for Specialized Surgery concluded a cooperation agreement in the field of training human medicine students, exchanging experiences in many medical fields, and conducting joint scientific research.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, President of the University, and Mr. Jad Al-Taweel, Deputy Director General, representing the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hospital, Dr. Jiab Al-Taweel. The conclusion of the agreement was attended by Vice President for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, Dean of the Faculty of Human Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, General Manager of the University Company, Mr. Faleh Abu Arra, Director of the Medical Center, Dr. Jumana Jaradat, Director of the University Laboratories, Mr. Khalid Herzallah, and Director of Quality Control Affairs at the Hospital, Ms. Lubna Musa.
Under the agreement, Premier Hospital for Specialized Surgery will train human medicine students at the Arab American University in the fourth, fifth, and sixth academic year in the Departments of Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Nerves, Heart, Emergency, Anaesthesia and Resuscitation, Diagnostic Radiology, and ENT and Urinary Tract.
During the signing ceremony, the University President, Prof. Dr. Abu Zuhri, gave a detailed explanation about the Faculty of Medicine and the Medical Faculties at the University. He confirmed that the university has many medical Centers with international standards, such as the University Rehabilitation Center, which includes Physical and Functional Therapy, Speech and Hearing, Artificial Limbs Factory, and the Medical Center in Ramallah, which includes specialized dental and ophthalmic clinics and medical laboratories in all its departments.
He added that the university is keen to sign agreements and memorandums of understanding. It is also keen to strengthen partnerships with national institutions. He praised the agreement concluded with Premier Hospital for Specialized Surgery, which would provide students off Medicine with training skills that complement the scientific academic programs they acquire during their studies.
For his part, Mr. Al-Taweel, Deputy Director General of Premier Hospital, praised the agreement and explained that Premier Hospital includes many departments that are equipped with the best international medical devices and distinguished staff. He added that medical students at the Arab American University will have many practical training programs that will be prepared in cooperation with their university. He also indicated that the hospital administration is keen to cooperate in various specialized fields in the university, appreciating the role that the university plays to serve the people.
