The Faculty of Business at the Arab American University has held a workshop for the Faculty students on Islamic economics and finance, in which it hosted a delegation from the Palestine Islamic Bank, with the aim of introducing the students to Islamic finance and its impact on the Palestinian economy.
The Palestine Islamic Bank delegation included Dr. Alaa Rozzia, Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board, Mr. Ashraf Lahlouh, Director of the Bank’s branch in Jenin Governorate, and the Bank’s employees Mohammad Murrar, Ahmed Abu Naasa, and Mahmoud Shaaban, in the presence of the Head of the Accounting Department at the University’s Faculty of Business, Dr. Rajeh Alawneh.
The workshop was started with a speech from the Head of the Accounting Department, Dr. Alawneh, in which he welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of the workshop that talks about Islamic finance and the impact of finance on the Palestinian economy. He called on the students to benefit from this workshop because of its importance in practical life.
In turn, Dr. Alaa Rozzia, Head of the Sharia Supervisory Board at the Palestine Islamic Bank, touched upon the services provided by the bank, especially in the financing aspect. He also spoke about the difference between the financing services provided by Islamic banks compared to the services provided by traditional banks. Dr. Rozzia also presented the development in the work of Islamic banks in recent years.
The workshop was concluded with discussions among the students and the attendees as well as responses to students’ inquiries.
