As part of an invitation from the Syrian Arab Writers Union and representing Arab American University, Dr. Iyad Yaqoub had a meeting with the Syrian Minister of Education and Minister of Culture in his visit to Syria.
The visit started by meeting Dr. Bassam Ibrahim- the Syrian Minister of Higher Education where both partied discussed future collaboration between Palestinian and Syrian universities, and emphasizing on the experience and academic exchange between Palestinian and Syrian universities.
During the meeting, they agreed on the importance of starting to create a strategy to enhance the cooperation between universities in both countries in conferences, researches, studies and experiences and scientific research mobility.
Dr. Yaqoub also had a meeting with Dr. Lubana Mshawah- the Syrian Minister of Culture where she confirmed the importance of building a joint cultural and scientific cooperation between Palestine and Syria. She also talked about the main activities of the ministry and emphasized on the importance of raising cultural awareness in the community through the using of modern technology and social media. Dr. Mshawah also appreciated the role of Arab American University, its Board of Directors, administration, faculty members, academics and students and its role in developing the educational and cultural capabilities for its students.
Both parties agreed to start planning to establish a youth network for all Palestinian and Syrian students.
