The Arab American University has held an extensive meeting with representatives of leading technology programming companies in the local and international market, as part of its continuous efforts to enhance cooperative relations with the private sector and provide distinguished training opportunities for its students. This meeting took place with the presence of representatives and managers of Diwan and (Xngage) companies.
The meeting was inaugurated with a welcoming speech by the Assistant to the President for Community Affairs, Dr. Laila Herzallah. She stressed the importance of cooperation and strengthening the relationship with specialized companies in a way that benefits all parties, and that there are many ideas and proposals that will add a qualitative development, whether in terms of training students or coordinating community activities and various events, serving the community, and hosting awareness workshops and lectures for students.
In turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Hazem Khanfar, stressed the importance of opening up horizons of cooperation between the two sides, with the aim of developing engineering programs and exchanging experiences and practical knowledge in the local market, in order to contribute to developing study plans that suit the needs of the labor market and modern developments.
The meeting also involved discussion of the necessity of developing students' skills and following up on their projects and work in the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Engineering as well as adopting these projects to bring them to light. The two parties discussed the importance of training students in engineering fields for specialized companies and interactive visits by companies with university students and directing them to the labor market in terms of skills and information.
The Dean of the Faculty of Information Systems, Dr. Mohammed Maree, pointed out the importance and necessity of companies adopting graduation projects that aim to find solutions and highlight the role of students in creativity and discovery. The companies informed the attendees of the programs, plans and nature of their work, whether at the international or local level, which in turn expressed their readiness to cooperate with the University in order to contribute to development and joint cooperation.
The meeting was concluded with the preparation of a draft memorandum of understanding on aspects of future cooperation in the specializations of engineering and technology, whether in terms of hosting trainees, or contributing to finding job opportunities for students as well as participating in graduation projects and adopting them and mechanisms for holding a number of community activities.
The meeting was attended by the General Manager of Diwan Company, Eng. Adnan Duweikat, the Executive Director of the company, Eng. Louay Duweikat, and the Acting and Director of Human Resources for (Xngage) Company in Palestine, Eng. Rashed Abu Hamed and the accompanying delegation Eng. Mohammad Asida and Eng. Fathi Sawafta.
The University was represented by the Assistant to the President for Community Affairs Dr. Laila Herzallah, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Hazem Khanfar, the Dean of the Faculty of Information Systems Dr. Mohammed Maree, and the Director of Public Relations of the University Mr. Firas Saifi.
