The University’s Assistant President for Information Technology, Mr. Bahgat Iyaseh, represented the Arab American University and the Digital Transformation Center, which was established at the University to lead digital transformation efforts in Arab universities and in Palestine, in a workshop held by the China International Economic Consulting Company (CLEC), affiliated with the CITIC Group, on the digital transformation of government services and the digital economy.
The workshop addressed several important topics, most notably the digital transformation journey in China, which included a review of the mechanism for using digital technology to improve the efficiency of government services and e-governance, in addition to economic growth based on innovation in areas such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. It also highlighted the applications of digital transformation in government and institutions, with a review of how to use technologies such as artificial intelligence, block-chain, and big data to enhance transparency and improve the quality of public services.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Bahgat Iyaseh was chosen to represent the Palestinian delegation, where he delivered a speech on behalf of the delegation during the event.
For his part, the Acting President of the Arab American University, Dr. Bara Asfour, stressed the importance of participating in international workshops that contribute to advancing the wheel of development in digital transformation within the University and at the national level, pointing out the University's constant endeavor to be a model to be emulated in the digital transformation of Palestinian and Arab universities. For this purpose, the Arab American University established the National Center for Digital Transformation to support these efforts and contribute to achieving digital transformation in various educational and economic sectors in Palestine, he added.
