An Orientation Day in Ramallah Campus for New Students of the Academic Year (2020/2021)

Attended by Dr. Mo’ayad Abu Saa’- the VP for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammad Asia- the VP for Medical Schools Affairs, the Deans of the Faculties, staff and faculty members and the Orientation Day Committee, Arab American University organized an orientation day in Ramallah Campus to welcome its new enrolled students in the Faculty of Modern Sciences and the Faculty of Modern Media for the academic year 2020/2021.

On behalf of Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, Dr. Mo’ayad Abu Saa’- the VP for Academic Affairs started by welcoming the new students and congratulated them on their acceptance and for being part of AAUP family. He hoped that Arab American University will be the start point for them to develop and improve themselves and said that welcoming the new students coincided with the 20th anniversary of AAUP. Dr. Abu Saa’ wished the new students all the luck and success in their academic journey.

Dr. Abu Saa’ added that AAUP is a great scientific edifice and a great holder for culture, development and enlightenment as during the last 20 years, Arab American University has achieved a big dream. He also talked about the 13 fully equipped faculties with the most modern techniques, laboratories, clinics and all the facilities around the campus. Dr. Abu Saa’ explained how AAUP has over 300 academics holding all types of academic degrees of over 80 fields of specialties in the different BA, MA and PhD degrees. He talked about the iconic and high-quality programs that meet the local an international labor market needs. Dr. Abu Saa’ ended his speech by mentioning some necessary issues and provided some guidance that will benefit students in their student life.

In his speech, Prof. Mohammad Asia- the VP for the Medical Schools Affairs talked about the awareness and COVID-19 safety precautions to prevent themselves from the virus that is still spreading strongly around the world especially in the Middle East.

Prof. Asia explained that all students should commit to the social distancing, wearing the mask, staying away from gatherings, hygiene and washing hands continuously, and added that deans and academics were informed of the need to take preventive measures inside the classroom, and so half of the students will be accommodated in each class.

Both Mr. Sa’id Abu Mualla- a Professor in the Media Department and Mr. Baha’ Aldeen Hammad- a Lecturer in the Faculty of Nursing provided a presentation about how to use the electronic gate and how can students distinguish themselves during their study years.

The University choir performed a musical performance, and then students were guided to their faculties where they met their deans and the faculty members and listened to them while they talked about the programs, the courses, the academic plans and the job opportunities in the local and international labor markets for each specialty.
