Asian Basketball Federation testimony
“Arab American University multi-purpose gym is the only one in Palestine that meets the international standards of the Asian Basketball Federation. They have sent an Asian observer months ago to inspect and examine the gymnasiums in Palestine to see if they meet international standards. Adding, this hall is a great achievement for Palestinian sports in terms of specifications and sports devices especially in basketball”, said the President of the Palestinian Basketball Federation Mr. Khader Abu Abara.
This came during the Palestinian Basketball Federation President visit with a group of its members to the multi-purpose sport hall at Arab American University. The University President Assistant for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Arra, Sports Facilities Director Mr. Oday Draghmeh and public relations staff, all welcomed them.
The delegation checked the hall facilities, special sports equipment for basketball and the hall readiness to host local, regional and international basketball events and tournaments.
Abu Abara added, the gym is fully equipped to serve both university and Palestinian sports and host basketball events and championships. Pointing, the basketball federation will urge Arab and Asian teams to come to Palestine and hold friendly and official matches in this hall which considered Pride to all Palestinians.
Mr. Abu Arra welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the Palestinian Basketball Federation achievements and role in enhancing the game in Palestine, placing it on the Arab and Asian map. Stressing, Arab American University has equipped the hall with all electronic panels, screens and sports equipment for all games within international standards. He explained, the hall is ready to host various tournaments especially in basketball. Noting, it accommodates 5000 people, to be the largest in Palestine.
