Starting the University 9th Multimedia Week's Events

The 9th multimedia week’s events at the Arab American University, organized by the Faculty of Engineering and IT Multimedia Department, was launched, where the departments’ students achievements displayed along with arranging seminars, specialized workshops, and contests.

The events started with the exhibition opening in the presence of the University VP for Planning and Development Affairs Dr. Osama Salama, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Mohammad Hamarsha, Head of the Multimedia Department Dr. Mohammad Maree, heads of the faculty’s departments and some academic and administrative faculty members.

University VP for Planning and Development Affairs Dr. Salama pointed, after conveying the University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri greetings, that the multimedia week events present the distinguished teaching at the Faculty of Engineering and IT. On this day we see the department students’ ability to apply what they learned in the theoretical lectures in life through the graduates’ projects. Stressing the importance of creativity and excellence in university or while entering the labor market.

As for the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT Dr. Mohammad Hamarsha said, for the last nine years the Multimedia Department been very active and creative in their activities, thanks to everyone who contributed in accomplishing them. Mentioning the Faculty of Engineering and IT partnerships with specialized companies and the private sector, whether in organizing lectures for faculty students, or training them and hire some of them.

He pointed to the faculty interest in providing training opportunities for students in Arab, Islamic and European countries through international and Arab organizations specialized in training university students. Calling students to exploit the companies offered training, employment or other opportunities. Stressing, such activities have several objectives, including involving students in presenting their creations, motivating them to work together, and promoting volunteering, which enhances their love of specialization and their belonging to the University.

The Head of the Multimedia Department Dr. Mohammad Maree said “We seek, through the ninth week of multimedia, to introduce the multimedia technology importance by presenting some of the Department students’ varied work. Noting, what distinguishes this year; the participation of some professors and representatives of companies and institutions in various specialized sessions to promote interest in the multimedia technology sector and related fields.

He explained that the IT and Multimedia Department seeks to follow-up what’s new in this field, work on developing the teaching plans to keep pace with updates and networking with the private sector. Noting the department works to sign a MoU, before the end of the current semester, with one of the most important Design and Animation Companies in Palestine.

After the opening ceremony, the participants and audience toured the exhibition which included dozens of projects such as 2D and 3D design, animation, drawing and photography, and recruiting multimedia in many applications such as virtual reality, enhanced reality, electronic games and other distinctive works.

The Ninth Multimedia Week, which will last for the next three days, will include specialized seminars on games and applications programming, online freelancing, IT student fields of work and employment standards, the latest technological developments in engineering and multimedia technology and other multimedia specialized sessions, its sector and the role played by multimedia professionals in the scientific and practical fields.
