Arab American University hosted the Ministry of Education Championship for Handball in its sports hall, where Eight education directorates participated from the northern West Bank.
This championships, is a part of the plan of the General Administration of Student Activities in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education sponsored by Minister Dr. Sabri Sidem, this championship came with many other championships organized in the south of West Bank, with eight teams participating from ages born in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 competitions.
The Director of Sports Facilities at Arab American University Mr. Udi Dragameh attended the championship and the Head of Sports Activity at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Mr. Aref Asira.
The championship was opened by the Director of Sport Facilities at the University, Mr. Daraghmeh. He welcomed the attendance and assured the importance of cooperation between the university and the ministry in organizing school championships and student activities in sport facilities of the university. He stressed the university's readiness to develop teams of directorates of education, As the university always supports sports at all levels, explaining that the sport facilities in the university is equipped with international standards to organize local and regional championships.
The head of the Sports Activity Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Mr. Aref Asira thanked Arab American University for hosting this tournament, appreciating the cooperation between the ministry and the university for providing the facilities necessary for the school sports service. He explained that this championship is followed by an Arab entitlement organized by the Arab Union for Physical Education and Sport in first of March next year in Egypt, and therefore a team will be selected to represent the Palestinian school’s sports Union in handball which was organized in the north and south, explaining that the team will supervise by a specialized committee of experienced trainees that will be qualify them to compete in the next Arab entitlement.
He pointed out that the Handball Championship was held based on one-time and out for the defeated team. and the teams that qualified for the first and second round will face the qualified teams in the South Championship within the fifth Olympic School Sports Week, which will be organized in early April next year.
