University Welcomes Qadura Faris in Lecture on Prisoner Movement

Arab American University Faculty of Arts hosted the Chairman of Palestinian Prisoner's Club Qadura Faris in a lecture he gave on prisoners’ conditions and stability for the prisoner movement course students.

Faculty of Arts Dean Prof. Dr. Mohammad Dawabsheh started the lecture, introducing Faris’s life path in defending prisoners’ issues and expose the occupation practices against them.

At first, Faris praised the Arab American University, stressing it confirmed the Palestinian ability to build homeland for all and create bright future for people who sacrificed for decades. He spoke about the university's experience importance and spread its build and model determination homeland institutions.

He reviewed the occupation’s racist practices against prisoners to break their well, however despite all inhuman actions and attempts to humiliate them the imprisoned movement managed to turn prisons into heroes’ factory, build instituted democratic organization, protect all prisoners and manage conflicts with jailers and the occupying authorities through consensus on hunger strikes they’ve made over the years to demand their daily, human rights such as right to education.

Faris added, both universities and prisons was and still the main centers to gather all Palestinian parties as they enforced national unity, led Palestinian struggle, implement patriotic national awareness and revolutionary thought in youths generation after another.

Confirming, today we need to maintain set of values and concepts to continue our fight and in its top priorities to support and stand by prisoners in their ongoing everyday fight.

Faris explained, prisoners’ individual or collective hunger strikes is one of their means of struggle to preserve their rights, demands and resistance. “The prisons that the occupation wanted to parry the spirit, mind and exile Palestinian prisoners’ was institutions that taught awareness and resistance in the face of jailor”, He said.

He added, the prisoner movement through its understanding, solidarity and awareness, succeeded in breaking the occupation practices and failing its plans. The prisons have graduated leaders and men who led our people fight, affirming that as Palestinians we are fighting for our land and people freedom. Palestinian prisoners sacrificed for their homeland and its people by raising aware generations about their sacrifices, talk about their heroism, resistance and facing the occupier and to be one in our continues solidarity with them and their hunger strikes.

“Now is the real time to stand by the prisoners, support their cause and prove that their struggle hasn’t been wasted as they represent a Palestinian symbol. History won’t be merciful if we failed them, saying there’s a nation forgot its prisoners in jails”, He concluded.
