The Deanship of Student Affairs at the University organized a workshop about storytelling its creation and publishing using mobile phones and social media. The workshop was organized in cooperation with “7amleh” the Arab Center for Advancement of Social Media with the launch of the Third Palestine Forum for Digital Activity 2019.

The two partner from “Hahstag our stories” and the founders Mr. Yousef Omar and Samyia Omar talked about the revolution made by "Selfi video" around the world, and its importance in social media and how to use mobile phones as an alternative to photography and publishing reports through live broadcasts. The workshop also focused on training students to attain the tools of using video programs and applications to document a particular event, as well as how to use the Hashtag to support their issues that concern them.
Yousef Omar assured the importance of the Palestinian issue and recommended that Palestinians should use the means of social media communication to emphasize the Palestinian narrative and work hard to change the prevailing stereotype.
During the workshop, the students were divided into groups where each student produced a documentary film documenting an event, photos and videos in order to experience all the editing tools on the applications that were used (Instagram, Snabshat and Facebook), in addition to teaching them how to employ video on Facebook through Selfi filmed and talking to audience while filming.
Mrs. Juanna Al-Hafi Director of Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs assured the importance of this workshop because it addresses important topics in the era of social media and its impact on the world. As it’s important to host specialist in social media to teach the youth how to create the narrative Palestinian story and to increase awareness among the students, she said that the workshop was interesting and interacted with students since it focused on practical application, which it enhances the experiences and skills of students to apply while using social media. In order to apply what they learned in their own affairs, work, education and to talk about community issues that concern them and convey their story about their dreams and aspirations.
At the end of the workshop, Mrs. Juanna Al-Hafi presented the Arab Center for Advancement of Social Media "7amleh" for organizing this workshop on the University campus in the framework of the Palestine Forum for Digital Activity, which began on 17-18 / 1/2019 in several Palestinian cities (Jenin, Ramallah, Gaza, Haifa, and Al-Taibeh).
