Workshop at the University Entitled "Entrepreneurship and Mechanism of Turning Graduation Projects into Startup Companies"

Hassib Sabbagh IT Center for Excellence at the Arab American University and in partnership with Ibdaa Company organized a workshop entitled “Entrepreneurship and How to Qualify Graduation Projects to Turn Them into Startup Companies”, to highlight the importance of having entrepreneurial projects and ideas in Palestinian universities and educate students on the importance of creative thinking during university.

AAUJ hosted Mr. Rasim Sawan Director of Ibdaa Company, during the workshop, which was attended by Dr. Nizam Diab VP for Training Affairs and Board Member of Ibdaa Company and Hasib Sabbagh Center for IT Excellence, Mr. Alaa Hattab Director of the Center and a number of faculty members and university students especially from the Faculty of Engineering and IT and Administrative and Financial Sciences.

Dr. Nizam Diab started by welcoming the audience and appreciating the Ibdaa Company’s great role, consists of four Palestinian universities, which the Arab American University one of them who focuses on supporting all sectors of innovation and creativity. Pointing, the university is a key partner in supporting and guiding students into creative ideas either through graduation projects or workshops and activities organized to develop their skills. Stressing on the need to support entrepreneurs by guiding their ideas and provide technical and financial support to develop their ideas and projects.

During the workshop, Mr. Rasim Sawan talked about Ibdaa Company, mentioning the previous stages which been very successful and has supported several projects, including two for Arab American University students who have established their own companies. Also addressed Ibdaa’s new phase as it will be training many students on entrepreneurship from creating ideas to forming teams, and guide them through experts and specialists, until the establishment of varied companies and pilot projects, those ideas and projects will be funded. He encouraged the students to register in Ibdaa and fill its enrollment applications to ensure their place in the exercises to be held at the university.

In his speech Mr. Alaa Hattab reviewed some figures and statistics that show the entrepreneurship importance and necessity. He addressed the leadership concept, how and where young people start, and mentioned several Palestinian companies as examples to follow, which were university students’ ideas who developed them into companies that provide many services. Also invited students to register in Ibdaa project and the Hassib Sabbagh center as the specialized technological incubator in the region. Stressing on the students need to interact with extracurricular activities that sharpen their personalities, equipping them with important professional and practical experiences along with their university degree.
