From the visit

The Board of Directors member Eng. Zuhair Hijawi visited the university Ramllah campus to check the university’s technological, scientific and architectural development.

The member of the university's board of directors Eng. Zuhair Hijawi, visited its Ramallah campus, where he checked the university technological, scientific and urban development.

Director of the University's Ramallah Campus Mr. Mohammed Saba'neh welcomed Eng. Hijawi.

During the visit, Eng. Hijawi listened to an explanation on the academic programs taught at Ramallah campus. Expressing his happiness with the university achievements in establishing a campus and distinctive scientific model in Palestine.

University students organizing the first stage of the Hult Prize competition

A group of the Arab American University Students organized the Hult Prize international competition’s first stage for the first time in the university.

It is a global competition founded by Ahmed Al-Ashqar a Palestinian businessman from Tulkarm city. It raises a global problem, giving university students around the world a chance to create teams, make difference, and proposing projects or ideas to solve it. The winner team gets one million US dollar to ably their project on the ground.

Faculty of Science at the Arab American University held a workshop to raise awareness on organ donation, attended by a group of university students.

The workshop came to raise awareness of university students about the importance of organ donation at the time of death because it has a great human impact in saving the lives of other patients who need organs to complete their lives, especially that Islamic law allows so.

It was moderated by Dr. Rula Jadallah, lecturer in the Biology and Biotechnology Department, as well as the nurse and lecturer on organs donation in Palestine Mrs. Maryam Shalabi, and Jenin’s Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Abu Al-Rob.

Prof. Dr. Waleed Deeb, Founding President of the Arab American University and the Academic Advisor to its Board of Directors, honored a group of the University's first employees who played a key role in establishing a number of its departments and moved to other institutions at home.

Prof. Dr. Deeb pointed that the university faced many difficulties and obstacles during its first years, but it continued to progress till it reached today’s academic, scientific and financial balance. All of which couldn’t happen without the will and determination of its founding workers who believed in it and insisted to success. This honoring comes in recognition of their role and efforts during their years at the university.

Establishing Member of the University Directors Board and Member of the Trustees Board Eng. Zuhair Hijawi honored the university distinguished researchers, who got the top ten places according to Google Scholar Classification.

The ceremony held in the presence of Directors Board Academic Councilor and university founder president Prof. Dr. Waleed Deeb, University's Acting President Dr. Zaki Saleh, former university presidents Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Mouies and Dr. Adli Saleh, University President Assistant for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Arra, and a number of members of the Board of Deans.

Researcher Alaa Aldeen Saleh Al-Abdallah, a computer science student at the Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis entitled “Smart Solution for the Renewed Cyberspace Violations”.

 The thesis addressed two problems related to intrusion detection systems: improving the systems performance in cyberspace and increasing the ability to classify secondary classes in environments that have an imbalance in the number of class registers. Also it proposed to merge Stratified Sampling method and Cost-function with two automatic learning algorithms; SVM and ELM.

Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University Ramallah Campus hosted the former South African Ambassador to the State of Palestine Mr. Rafique Gangat in a lecture for Conflict Resolution and Development Master Students, to talk about interlocking boundaries between strategic and effective communication on one hand, and conflicts resolution on the other, knowing these two fields are intertwined with each other and with other knowledge fields.

The Ambassador Ghangat was welcomed by the Conflict Resolution and Development lecturer at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Dr. Ayman Yousef and Administrative Director of Ramallah Campus Mr. Mohammad Saba’na.

The lecture was attended by the conflict resolution and development program students who interacted with great passion as the lecturer used interactive tools, brainstorming and humor to manage the lecture, which had a great impact in making a change in them, conceptually and theoretically as all these theoretical methods were linked to the Palestinian case reality.

The Palestinian artist and Director of the Arab American University, Ramallah campus Mr. Mohammed Saba'neh, participated in the exhibition entitled “Solidarity Day with the Palestinian People” organized by the Palestinian Mission in the United Nations in cooperation with the Committee of Solidarity with the Palestinian People at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Saba'na's participation came in light of his achievements in caricatures. The Palestinian delegation to the United Nations proposed arranging exhibition to present the achievements of many Palestinian personalities and national institutions with significant achievements in their field.

Researcher Azhar Abdelkarim Hamdan, a computer science student at the Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended her master thesis entitled “The use of GIS based on decision support to manage water distribution networks – Nablus city as Case Study”.

She addressed the use of GIS and hydraulic analysis systems to build an intelligent system capable of connecting all components of the water network and finding water losses. The researcher recommended building accurate geographic water networks databases to enable it to intelligently save, display and manage data, leading to right decisions backed with science and accurate information.

The Arab American University has always seeks to improve to the newest academic programs, scientific research and everything serving students and local community. In response of the development and expansion at the faculties of Aliening Medical Sciences and Nursing and the desperate need to develop modern teaching methods, the university updated from traditional to electronic teaching tools in 19 classrooms and laboratory in the faculties.

Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and Nursing Dr. Mohamed Asia said “Since the beginning of the current academic year and with the support of the University Directors Board and its Presidency, the traditional educational methods have been updated. Handwriting and old whiteboards have been replaced with Smart boards”.
