Part of the Training

The University at Ramallah campus holds a European training about the university governance project with the participation of university employees AAUP, Al-Najah, Birzeit, Polytechnic Hebron, Islamic University in Gaza through a conference video and other European Universities.

The course was presented by a group of experts from European universities, the Italian University of Siana, the Slovenian University of Ljubljana, the Irish University of Cork and the Portuguese University of Evora.

The training covered topics such as strategic planning, human resources, governance and academic governance.

The course was dedicated to employees of Planning and Development Dept, the Office of the Vice President for Administrative and Financial affairs, Human Resources Dept, Quality Sept, Academic Affairs, Training Dept, Financial Dept and Projects Dept.

AAUP - Ramallah Campus

At Al-Rihan Neighborhood, on the other side of Al-Istishari Arab Hospital, on a hill lies the premises of Arab American University as a monument for a free Palestine, not just for a free State of Palestine. But, yet for an independent academic & knowledge future that AAUP nurtures along with its Palestinian universities. 

The situation is not about architecture, but about the soul that lives in this monument of humanity, and national morals, here you can perceive the Palestinian willingness to develop and build all it takes to rise with a free Palestinian future, as I sight in the eyes who welcomed me while I was going for a dental medical check.

Latest news and clarification about the recent decision from the Ministry of Health regarding recognition of medical certificates

 

The Decision only includes general medicine and does not include the specialties of dentistry, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, medical imaging, medical laboratory sciences and all specialties at Arab American University

Part of the Visit

The University welcomed a delegation from University of Exeter UK from the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Peter Turnbini and Dr. Emma Babil who visited the university to discuss ways of cooperation in medical research fields.

The Vice President for International Relations Dr. Dalal Irekat, welcomed the guest and pointed out the university's vision in bulling international cooperation with other universities to exchange academic and research experiences to enrich the university’s students and faculty members.

The researcher Eyla’ Mohammad Qubha, a commercial law student at faculty of Graduate studies of Arab American University, discussed her thesis about “the termination of indefinite employment contract in the Palestinian labour law”

The study was about the termination of indefinite employment contract and the comparison between the Palestinian, Jordanian and Egyptian labour law. The concept of the indefinite contract that doesn’t have a clear identification.

Prof. Aysar Sussan moderated one of the sessions at the conference titled “Public Administration”. He also presented his research paper entitled:

The Role of Planning in Improving the Efficiency in Government Organizations.

A Delegation from the National Commission for Accreditation and Quality visits the university to see its academic and research development

A delegation from the National Commission for Accreditation and Quality from Ministry of Education and Higher Education visited Arab American University to see its academic programs and its correspondence with the local, regional and international market, as well as to see scientific research development and publishing scientific research in various specialized fields in Local, Arab and international scientific journals.

The delegation consisted of its President Dr. Waleed Sweileh, the Head of the Program Accreditation Department Mrs. Nisreen Al-Khafash and Eng. Iyad Abu Samra, where they were weclomed by the Vice President for Planning and Development Dr. Moaz Sabhah and Dean of Scientific Research Dr. Mahmoud Manasra.

The Minister of Health Dr. Jawad Awad announced that Arab American University has received accreditation of two Dental Residency Programs in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Prosthodontics, after its recognition by the Palestinian Medical Council. As he praised the efforts of the university, saying that this recognition is a pioneer in the academic development, especially in the disciplines and the medical fields.

This special announced was during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Medical Center, that contains (the Dental Center, the Genetic Genetics Center and the Analysis Lab) at Arab American University - Ramallah campus in the presence of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University Dr. Mohamed Ashtia, Dr. Yousef Asfour Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Dr. Laila Ghannam, President of the University Professor Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education Dr.

Dr. Nahed Habib Allah

Dr. Nahed Habib Allah a Professor in sociology at the Faculty of Graduate School - Arab American University, received an invitation from New School University in New York City to teach a course about Jerusalem as an expert in this field. This is considered to be the first time to teach such a course in an American university.

Dr. Nahed said that this course gives students a complete idea about the Holy City as it’s the center of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in its various national and religious dimensions. The course will discuss in details how the lives of the people of Jerusalem were affected by the Israeli occupation policies, and covers the period of mandate and the Palestinian national movements that emerged and developed during that period of the 1948 war until the joining part of Jerusalem to the State of Israel, as it will cover the occupation and joining all Jerusalem city in 1967. "
