AAUP Ranked 8th among Top 25 Universities in the International Joint Publications Criterion, in the U-Multirank Classification

Arab American University announced being ranked in the 8th place globally among other top 25 universities in the International joint publications criterion among International Orientation in the U-Multirank classification

This global rank includes 1948 universities from 97 different country around the world, and only two universities applied for this classification that gives the ranking based on different standards of five main fields.

The ranking result came in harmony with Arab American University’s strategy that encourages the international view of the university and encourages the joint scientific research with other universities and global researchers.

AAUP Participates in the Research Competition “Naher Haya” and Wins the Second Place

Arab American University participated in “Naher Haya” research contest with Reform Institution that all the Palestinian universities participated in as well. The aim of this project is to build students’ capabilities in research, depth analysis, developing knowledge and scientific skills and using scientific research tools.

AAUP won the second place between all other participated Palestinian universities in the research of student Asma Hussam Rabayaa entitled “Youth Refugees between Alienation and Community Participation” and the research of student Sadi Ajaj in his research “The role of the popular committees in promoting civil peace in light of the weak legal jurisdiction in the camps” under supervision of Dr. Layla Herzallah.

 AAUP and PCBS Start a Campaign of Serum Scanning to the Local Community People who have Developed Anti-Bodies for COVID

The Research Center in Arab American University and the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced the beginning of scanning serum from local community people, in order to know the percentage of Palestinian people who have developed anti-bodies for COVID.

The announcement came as part of the meeting that took place in AAUP-Ramallah Campus between Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President and Dr. Ola Awad- the PCBS President, with the presence of Dr. Moayad Abu Saa- the VP for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammad Asia- the VP for the Medical Schools Affairs, Dr. Faisal Awartani- the CEO of the Research Center in AAUP, Dr. Nowar Qotob- the Head of the Health Science Department in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in AAUP and a delegation from the PCBS.

AAUP Wins the Best Scientific Research in the 11th Palestinian International Conference in Laboratory Medicine

Arab American University got the first place in “Reshmawi Award- the Dean of the Laboratory Medicine” as the best scientific research in the 11th Palestinian International Conference in Laboratory Medicine that was held in the Red Crescent building in Ramallah.

The conference was organized and held through Zoom and only the Laboratory Medicine Syndicate Council and the Scientific Committee who discussed the lecturers and evaluated their researches were presented in person in the location of the conference.

During the conference, the head of the conference Dr. Osama Najjar- the President of the Syndicate announced the awards of the 11th Palestinian International Conference in Laboratory Medicine which is the Reshmawi Award that was divided into three levels.

67 New Cases of the “Indian” Strain of COVID Discovered by AAUP and the Ministry of Health

According to the studies of the samples done by AAUP laboratories under collaboration with the Ministry of Health that ensured the discovery of the delta strains of corona in Palestine, the Ministry of Health sent new samples to Arab American University laboratories in Ramallah. AAUP team done the needed tests and discovered that there are new 67 cases infected with the Indian strain “Delta sub-strain B.1.617.2” and “3 samples have the British Alpha strain B.1.1.7”

Due to the biological importance of the new samples, AAUP laboratories will follow up the strains in order to try to discover some of the sub strains that were also discovered globally.

AAUP Laboratories and under Collaboration with the Ministry of Health Discover New Cases of the COVID Strain in Palestine

According to the results of the tests that ensured the discovery of new strains of corona in Palestine, the Ministry of Health sent new 27 samples to Arab American University laboratories in Ramallah as the Ministry suspected that those samples might be infected with the new strain. AAUP team done the needed tests and discovered that 24 out of 27 of the samples are infected with the new Indian strain “Delta sub-strain B.1.617.2” and “2 samples have the British strain B.1.1.7”, while one sample has the “South-African strain B.1.351”.

AAUP stated that the information related to the genetic factors of the virus is the main indicator to the spread of the virus in Palestine. And so, Arab American University emphasizes on the importance of the researches that observe the developments and genetic mutations of the virus.

In its research studies, AAUP continues to follow up the samples of the infected people who tested positive, and the development related to vaccination as well.

AAUP Organizes a Scientific Seminar about the Islamic Accounting

Arab American University and under collaboration with Ahlia University – Bahrain has organized a scientific seminar through Zoom entitled “Islamic Accounting between Practice and Theory” and was instructed by Prof. Hussien Sarhan from Zarqa University.

Dr. Raid Saad- the Head of the Accounting Department in AAUP, the Head of the Accounting Department in Ahlia University in Bahrain and other Accounting professors from different Arab Universities attended the seminar.

Thesis Defense about the US Usage of Strategic Political Communication via "Twitter" in Promoting the "Deal of the Century"

Researcher Mousa Amr Khalil – a student at the Master in Contemporary Public Relations Program in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in AAUP defended his thesis under the topic of “the US Usage of Strategic Political Communication via Twitter in Promoting the Deal of the Century”.

The study aimed to reveal the mechanisms that Donald Trump- the former US President used to make Twitter as the main strategic political communication tool to promote the deal of the century and the other agreements with the Arab countries. The researcher explained that Trump used Twitter to spot light on the convincing techniques, especially the ones related to the message specifications and the propaganda technology.

Thesis Defense about “Multiline Regression: Main Causes of Traffic Accidents in Jenin as a Case Study”

Researcher Fatima Ibrahim – an Applied Mathematics student in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in Arab American University defended its thesis that was entitled “Multiline Regression: Main Causes of Traffic Accidents in Jenin as a Case Study”

The study aimed to analyze the main causes and factors affecting the traffic accidents in Jenin during the year 2018.

The researcher discussed the simple-line regression and multiline regression in addition to analyzing the traffic accidents data.

Out of its interest to discover new strains of corona in Palestine, the Ministry of Health sent 18 samples to Arab American University laboratories in Ramallah as the Ministry suspected that those samples might be infected with the new strain of the Indian “Double Mutant” of corona. AAUP team done the needed tests and discovered that the samples are infected with the new Indian strain (17 samples have a Delta sub-strain B.1.617.2 and 1 sample has a Kappa sub-strain B.1.617.1).

This means that the Indian strain does exist in Palestine and it is quick to spread and easy to move from one person to another. We kindly ask all citizens to follow the Ministry of Health’s instructions and precaution procedures.
