Biography:
Dr. Hilal Zaid is a full Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the Arab American University (AAUP), Palestine. He is a member of the higher appointment committee at AAUP. Dr. Zaid received his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Ben-Gurion University, Israel on June 2005 and then was trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the Banting and Best Department of Medical Research, the University of Toronto, Canada. In 2006, he joined the Program in Cell Biology at the Hospital for Sick Children as a postdoctoral fellow until July 2008. He was recruited temporary at Ben-Gurion University as a research associate. At the beginning of 2009 (until now), he established his own lab of Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Animal Unite at AAUP and Al-Qasemi Research Center.
Publications: Dr. Zaid has over 110-refereed publications (most of them in highly-rated journals and one book). Dr. Zaid acts as Guest editor at the journal ‘Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity’ (IF 6.5), Molecules (IF 4.4) ‘Current Drug Targets’’ (IF: 3.5), and several others. He is also an editorial board member and lead guest editor for special issues in the ‘Evidenced Based Complementary Medicine Journal‘(IF: 2.6) and a reviewer for tens of other journals. His total citations is about 2600 (1130 since 2017) and his ‘i-10 index’ is 35 (33 since 2017) according to Google scholar.
Advising and Training: Four PhD students and nine Master’s students.
Main Research Project: Medicinal plants anti-diabetic and anti-cancer active ingredients: isolation, protein target and action mechanism. Over 650,000$ were received from national and international sources to fund the research projects.
