Today, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University, Dr. Imad Dweikat, met the President of the American Institute PAMA, and Consultant Oncologist and Blood Doctor, Dr. Youssef Khalifa in the building of the Faculty of Medicine, at the university, in the presence of the head of the Microbiology and Immunology Unit in the Faculty, Dr. Iman Qoraan, the head of the Anatomy Unit in the Faculty, Dr. Bahaa Medlej, the Head of the Organ Functions and Medications Unit at the Faculty, Dr. Reham Nazzal, and the Head of the Pathology and Histology Unit, Dr. Ramez Kilani, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two parties, which are necessarily in the interest of the students of the Faculty of Medicine at the university.

The meeting focused on the extent of the Arab American University's great care in supporting medical students and empowering them in their field at various levels, in addition to strengthening their educational motivation, since the medical profession is a noble profession that contributes to saving lives. Achieving this aim requires great efforts from the academic staff on the one hand, and the relentless pursuit of bridging ways of cooperation with institutions concerned with the field of medicine worldwide in order to exchange experiences with them on the other.

For his part, the head of the American "PAMA" Institute and Consultant Oncologist and Blood Doctor, Dr. Youssef Khalifa, praised the Arab American University in all its specializations and scientific programs. He explained that the PAMA Institute is proud of its cooperation with the university due to its status and its educational and national role. It is the Palestinian university that brought the people together. He explained that as an institute, they will not hesitate for a moment to provide anything that has a role in enabling and assisting human medicine students as long as it does not contradict the policies of the institute and its internal systems.

Yousef Khalifa gave a brief definition of PAMA in terms of its mission, which seeks to provide immediate medical relief to Palestinians living in Gaza and the West Bank and to establish and support education and training programs that enhance the future of Palestinian healthcare.

"The Institute seeks to achieve several goals, such as establishing an open registry for all health care professionals in the United States, who share the mission of PAMA, cooperating with Palestinian health institutes and non-governmental organizations to help promote health care in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, facilitating medical missions from the United States to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to facilitating the training of healthcare professionals”, Khalifa explained.

In the same context, Dweikat welcomed the President of the "PAMA" Institute, praising the great efforts made by the Institute to support and empower Palestinian medical students and bring them together under one unified umbrella and structure during their studies abroad. Educational grants constitute an important step for students in order to complete their scientific journey towards specialization in medicine, which necessarily benefits the health sector and provides it with competencies and high capabilities, which is positively reflected on the health services provided to the Palestinian society.

"Within a very short period of time, the Faculty of Medicine could prove its presence similar to other faculties of human medicine. More than 160 male and female students from different regions joined it, which makes us responsible before them and before the community as a whole with the need to provide them with a rich scientific and practical material.", Dr. Dweikat added. He also presented an introductory overview about the Faculty and its facilities, including laboratories and simulation centers, with their huge and unique technological specifications at the national level.

The meeting was concluded with an introductory interactive session between the President of the PAMA Institute and the students of human medicine, during which he reviewed a number of programs and grants that PAMA provided to the medical students in the West Bank and Gaza Strip since its establishment, in addition to the criteria and conditions that apply to students who may obtain educational grants.
