The Art of Caricature

On the painting, Sabaaneh said: "Months ago, I received an invitation from my friend Majed Bamieh to draw a painting that embodies the Nakba to be displayed at the United Nations. I chose to adapt the famous painting "Guernica" by the artist Pablo Picasso in protest against the German bombarding of Spain, which has become a symbol of war and peace. He added, "I tried to embody the ongoing Palestinian Nakba through digital drawing, and used the blue-gray color to denote the Israeli occupation."

Media Professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Media Said Abu Maalla opened the meeting, welcoming audience and stressing on the importance of the caricature art in delivering messages, noting this type of art plays an important role as a tool for communication among communities of different cultures, ideas, languages and nationalities.
