A student team from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Arab American University, called ShatlhAR, won the second place in the IEEE Pioneers 2.0 competition in its second version. The team included the students Abdulrahman Barham, Christine Abu Zalof, and Abdullah Odeh. The team also qualified to participate in the competition at the Middle East level. 18 teams representing several Palestinian universities from the West Bank and Gaza competed. The competition was held in the Palestinian-Indian Technology Park.

It is noteworthy that IEEE Pioneers is a competition within Entrepreneurship Week launched by the International Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). It aims to raise the local community’s awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship. It also aims to support pioneering and creative projects, in addition to qualifying and developing the participants’ skills and technological capabilities that are necessary for preparing projects to suit the requirements of the labour market in light of the global changes in the field of technology and artificial intelligence.

Two Teams of the University Students Win First and Third Places in a Competition Organized in Tunisia

A group of Arab American University students participated in a competition organized in Tunisia, entitled IEEE R8 Entrepreneurship Committee, at the IEEE R8 Student & Young Professional Congress 2022.

The University students participating in the competition were in two groups. The first team included "Lina Zahalka, Haitham Sharbati, and Noor Daraghmeh". This team was called GREENERS. The team won the first place. It presented an initiative to produce natural fertilizer by using carbon dioxide emissions and using it in the production process In order to reduce the proportion of harmful gases in the atmosphere and stimulate green spaces in the world.

The “UNITED NATIONS” Rewards the University Team That Won the First Place in the Competition to Combat Desertification in the Arab Region

The UNITED NATIONS Organization rewarded the Arab American University team, which won at the level of the Arab world, in the competition to combat desertification and mitigate drought in the Arab region, at a conference held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The winner team included students from the Faculties of Engineering and Arts, who are (Saed Hanani, Laith Nazzal, Ahmed Asaad, Yazan Hamad, Anwar Ghannam).

The conference aims to raise the awareness of young men and women in the Arab region about the impact of desertification and drought on their lives. It also discusses the roles they can play in mitigating the impact of these two challenges on the region.
