Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Arifa Abu Karsh in the Adult Nursing Program

Researcher Arifa Misbah Abu Karsh, a student in the master’s program in adult nursing, has defended her thesis titled “Effectiveness of Structured Education on Patient’s Knowledge and Practice Regarding Colostomy in West Bank.”

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a structured educational program on patient knowledge and practice regarding colostomy care in the West Bank. The researcher used a quasi-experimental study design (pre-test and post-test) to achieve the objectives of the study. The sample consisted of 37 adult male and female patients, who had a colostomy operation, as a non-probability convenience sample for this study. The samples were taken in surgical and medical outpatient clinics and oncology clinics in governmental and private hospitals in the West Bank.

Researcher Alaa Abdullah Al Ghorneh, a student in the Master’s program in Contemporary Public Relations, has defended her thesis titled “Media Frameworks for Palestinian Digital Human Rights Organizations in Highlighting Meta’s Policies for Blocking Palestinian Content in (2022-2023).”

This study aimed to clarify the media frameworks used by Palestinian human rights organizations concerned with digital rights, and to know the nature of their messages directed to the public when dealing with the violations committed by the Meta administration against Palestinian digital content. It also aimed to identify the most important mental and emotional appeals that these organizations use when communicating with the public.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Hassan Musleh in the Adult Nursing Program

 Researcher Hassan Hikmat Musleh, a student in the master’s program in adult nursing, has defended his thesis titled "Association between Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) among Students in a Palestinian University: A Cross-Sectional Study".

This study aims to identify irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety, and stress as well as the relationship between them among Palestinian university students. The researcher used a cross-sectional quantitative analytical design, for a sample of 372 university students from 13 faculties at the Arab American University in Palestine, and they filled out a self-questionnaire containing the Rome 4 criteria for diagnosing irritable bowel syndrome, and a depression, anxiety, and depression scale tool.
