A seminar to discuss “The Palestinian Intellectual and the Stakes of Modernity (1908-1948)” book

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center in Arab American University organized a Zoom Seminar to discuss the book of the Palestinian historian and researcher Dr. Maher Sharif entitled “The Palestinian Intellectual and the Stakes of Modernity (1908-1948)” that was published by the Institute for Palestine Studies in 2020.

The seminar that was moderated by Dr. Nahed Habiballah- the Social Sciences Professor in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in AAUP was organized under collaboration between the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Institute for Palestine Studies in Beirut, and was attended by students of both the Conflict Resolutions and the Intercultural Communication and Literature Graduate programs.

Part of the seminar

Philosopher Noam Chomsky was hosted by the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center in AAUP through ZOOM to talk about the developments in the international and local arena and its implications on the Palestinian cause.

Ms. Rula Shahwan- the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center Manager started the seminar by introducing the center and its mission in providing academic and cultural knowledge to create intellectual dialogue between the different parties in the Palestinian society and international thinkers and philosophers to discuss the changes and developments happening in the local and international arena and its implications on the Palestinian cause.

Dr. Nahid Habiballah- a Social Sciences, Literature and Intercultural Communication Professor in AAUP

The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center in Arab American University organized an electronic training course of 7 meetings about “Conflict Resolutions and Reconciliation” for the students of Islamic University of Gaza. 20 students from different BA and MA programs participated in the course.

Ms. Rula Shahwan- the Director of Erasmus+ Project_ that is applied under the supervision of the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center_ said that this course comes as part of Erasmus+ project activities entitled “Raise national competence in conflict resolution and reconciliation researches” funded by the European Union with partnership with the Islamic University of Gaza, Hebron University, Friedrich-Schiller-Universitat Jena- Germany and Granada University. This Course aims to raise educational and knowledge competence for students in Islamic University of Gaza.
