The course will first review the theoretical background of microfinance The course will then address the question of effective use of financial services and its impact on poor people’s livelihoods. The last part of the course will deal with social responsibility of microfinance institutions especially towards the clients of microfinance institutions. The class will address these issues from both a philosophical and developmental perspective and provide in-depth discussion on the emerging issues in the microfinance world. . This course will provide students with an introduction to microfinance as an important development effort in the war against poverty.
