This course provides an overview of the field of digital economics and the digital economy ecosystem. Topics covered include information and communication technologies, convergence of technology and services, digital market evolution, digital goods and services, production models, value creation models and competitive strategy, network effects, path dependence, lock-in and switching costs, digital monopolies and oligopolies, the long tail, big data economics, net neutrality and digital regulation. Special emphasis will be placed on digital business models and digital market modeling.
