Biography:
Abdalla M. Walwil was born in July 11, 1958 in Al-majdel, Jordan. He attended UNRWA Elementary School in Qalqilia, Palestine where he graduated with Almetric diploma. Then he attended Alsa’adeya High School in Qalqilia, where he graduated with Altawjihee diploma. In 1977, he was admitted to Birzeit University, Palestine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and
Biochemistry in 1982. In 1986, he was admitted to the University of Mississippi in where he received his degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Organic Chemistry in 1992. He joined the Chemistry Department at Southeastern Louisiana University, SLU, in the fall of 1992 then left them in1999 for the Chemistry Department at Sultan Qaboos University where he worked for one year as Visiting Consultant. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at the Arab American University-Jenin, Palestine since August 2000. His research interests are in the field of natural product synthesis including: the synthesis of the marine sponge metabolite antineoplastic sesquiterpenoid quinone, named metachromin A & B; the study of the scope and factors that affects the reduction of 4,5-dihydropyrene to 4,5,9,10-tetrahydropyrene; the synthesis of some donor-sigma-acceptor compounds; and the isolation and structural determination of natural products from certain weeds and plants. Recently, my research was shifted to Mass Spectrometry application.
