Master in Procurement Management

Goals

  1. Strengthen the students’ knowledge of traditional business management skills.
  2. Provide the students with an understanding of the role of procurement management in an organization and how the procurement function relates to organizational strategy.
  3. Enable students to assess opportunities and propose procurement management strategies that improve organizational performance in both public and private organizations.
  4. Provide students with knowledge of the impact of the digital age on the procurement function and an understanding of the challenges currently facing procurement managers.
  5. Improve the student’s ability to use critical thinking and problem solving in procurement management.
  6. Strengthen the student’s ability to apply management and leadership skills to develop policies to improve procurement management in an organization.

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME

  • Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental business and operations management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emerging trends, challenges, opportunities and best practices in procurement management including the growth of e-procurement.
  • Formulate procurement management and sourcing strategies that help achieve organizational goals.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative techniques to evaluate procurement alternatives, assess suppliers, analyze and negotiate costs and make effective decisions.
  • Establish and implement processes and procedures to improve the procurement management function in an organization.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop solutions to procurement management challenges faced by public and private organizations.
  • Develop leadership and management practices that enable organizations to succeed in a rapidly changing procurement environment.
