It is a Regional refereed scientific journal issued by the Deanship of Scientific Research at the Arab American University-Jenin / Palestine with ISSN (Print): 2308-2623, ISSN (Online): 3135-2243.

The Journal publishes research in both English and Arabic with a commitment to the rules and standards of the scientific research. 

The Journal review is based on working with peers in the field of pure specialization. A research must be refereed and peer-reviewed before being submitted for publication. The Deanship of Scientific Research assigns two (or three) referees to evaluate the research paper, and if the reading needs modifications, the results will be sent back to the author(s) to make the required revision.

Journal policy

The Journal of the Arab American University (JAAU) is a Regional Refereed Research Journal concerned with publishing local, regional  and international research.  Manuscripts are published in Arabic or English. Submitted papers are treated confidentially.  

Articles submitted are subject to peer- review of  high standard specialized scientists. Authors are asked to present a pledge that the research is an original work, and has not been published or presented for publication elsewhere.

Duties of Reviewers, Authors and Editors

Duties of Reviewers

  • Peer review assists in  editorial decision making and helps the author in improving the paper.
  • A referee who feels himself unqualified to evaluate a manuscript should notify the editor and excuse himself.
  • Reviewing work is based on objective principles. Subjective criticism of the author, personal and individual judgments are to be avoided. Points of views of the reviewer should supported by arguments.

Acknowledgement of sources

Submitted manuscripts must be authentic, and a result of own scientific effort. Any included data and statements of not own origin should be accompanied by the relevant citation.

The reviewer should draw the attention of the editor to existence of possible overlap or plagiarism between the manuscript under consideration and other sources related to the author or to others without clear citation.

Reporting standards

A paper should present a sufficient scientific content and references to permit others to replicate the work.

Data access and retention

Authors may be asked to submit the raw data related to the manuscript under consideration for editorial review.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

 

Duties of the Editorial Board

Editorial boards are essential and valuable resource for journals to publications because they make sure that journals are published with integrity and accuracy. These boards often include the publisher, editor-in-chief, assistant editor, advertising editor and department editors. Editorial boards of Journal are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published.

The AAUP Journal is an open access and peer reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing original, high-quality research in the fields of humanities and social sciences, with particular attention to issues relevant to Palestine, the Arab region, and comparable global contexts.

The journal aims to:

  • Promote theoretical, empirical, and applied research that deepens understanding of human, social, cultural, political, legal, and economic phenomena.
     
  • Encourage critical, interdisciplinary perspectives that contribute to knowledge production, policy development, and societal well-being.
     
  • Provide a reputable academic platform for regional and international scholars to engage in rigorous scholarly dialogue.

The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, and scholarly analyses in, but not limited to, the following areas:

The journal also considers interdisciplinary studies that primarily adopt humanities or social science frameworks, while engaging with:

  • Health and public health, where social, ethical, policy, or behavioral dimensions are central
     
  • Science and technology, including technology adoption, digital transformation, AI ethics, and societal impact
     
  • Environmental and sustainability studies, focusing on social, economic, or governance aspects
     
  • Submissions with cross-disciplinary content must clearly demonstrate a humanitarian or social science orientation and a substantive contribution to these fields.

 

Exclusions:

Purely technical, clinical, laboratory-based, or engineering-focused studies without a clear social or humanitarian dimension fall outside the journal’s scope.
