Master in Digital Art and Design

Overview

The program provides students the opportunity to explore the dynamic interdisciplinary field of digital arts and design.

Students will develop skills in creative digital art and design practice to a professional standard and extend their learning and deepen their understanding of visual language concepts and systems.

The student in this program will collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and experiment and adapt innovative and creative new art and design approaches demonstrating a critical understanding of contemporary theory and practice in digital art and design.

The program seeks to offer a comprehensive approach to digital art and design that not only encourages innovation by students through a practice–based research methodology, but also endeavors to provide the students with the creative, intellectual and theoretical foundation upon which they can build their contribution to this dynamic field to compete in the global marketplace for art and design.

The program explores the interdependence of culture, creative practice and technology, and the ethics and representation of digital art and design.

 

Goals

The objectives of The Master program in Digital Art and Design is to provide the students with a theoretical background and a practical skill to understand the influence of technology and scientific innovation on the field of digital art and design.

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Change the way of creating and interacting with images, arts, and design technology in general.
  • Demonstrate the theoretical background and the practice–oriented approach in the field of digital art and design.
  • Encourage the students to develop a critical and original approaches to contemporary creative production and enable students to investigate the influence of digital art and design technologies in relation to creativity and communication.
  • Provide a framework within which students are prepared for further academic research as well as integration into the various industries requiring digital art and design technology.
  • Allow graduates to significantly contribute to the development of content in a variety of fields and to become eligible for gainful in areas with a focus on creative digital design production. 
  • Give students the opportunities to demonstrate a significant creative and contextual practice related to appropriate debates in the contemporary, the social, and the historical.

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME

Upon completion of this program, student should be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate work in their field, including their own work, using professional terminology.
  2. Combine creative and innovative skills to produce work suitable for seeking opportunities in their chosen field art and design and take responsibility for their own professional and academic development.
  3. Demonstrate the expertise, independent skills and competence required to solve creative problems and be in charge of complex design process.
  4. Recognize and assess the ethical challenges and the influence of major historical and contemporary cultural trends on art and design artefacts.
  5. Produce technically and aesthetically high quality work based on interesting concepts that demonstrates an understanding of digital art and design principles.
  6. Communicate and cooperate efficiently with others in design-related development processes, within and outside their own subject area.
  7. Develop of content in a variety of fields and to become eligible for gainful employment in areas with a focus on creative digital production.
  8. Develop strategies, skills, and creative networks to facilitate professional practice and employability.
