PhD in Public Relations, Communication and Media

Goals:

  1. Provide the students with knowledge of current public relations and communications strategies and techniques.
  2. Enable the student use analytical skills to propose solutions to public relations  and media challenges.
  3. Enable the student to assess opportunities to increase organizational reputation, and standing through public relations initiatives.
  4. Develop the student’s understanding of the role of public relations in an organization and the alignment of public relations efforts with those of other strategic initiatives. 
  5. Strengthen the student’s ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative public relations and media research.
  6. Develop the student’s ability to behave in an ethical manner that is based on professional of communications, and public relations standards and practices.

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the fundamental theories and practices of contemporary public relations and communications.
  • Develop the ability to create public relations campaigns using traditional and social media.
  • Employ critical thinking skills to address public relations and media  challenges and make effective decisions in business, nonprofit and political organizations.
  • Analyze target audience needs and behavior and formulate public relations and media  strategies to reach those audiences.
  • Formulate public relations practices that help promote the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Employ analytical skills to design and conduct research on the evolving public relations  and media landscape.
  • Exhibit high standard of professional practice, demonstrating awareness of ethical and social responsibilities in today’s traditional and online public relations  and media environments
