Overview

Financial Engineering program is considered as a multi-disciplinary program that entails the use of mathematical instruments and programming methods in financial markets practices. This program prepares students in the professional field of finance in overall the global financial markets as well as in Palestine financial market. Master degree in financial engineering offered to equip students in analyze trading securities, portfolios investment and management, banking consulting in credits and financial risk management practices. The skills learned during the study enable students in pursuing their careers of profession. The drive is to take technology into profession and guides students with innovative techniques in mathematics and finance.

 

Goals

This program is set to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Give students in depth know-how the financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, and derivatives as well as analytical tools used in financial industry.
  2. Strengthen the students understanding of financial derivatives and machine learning in finance. 
  3. Develop the students understanding of Computational and algorithm finance.
  4. Prepare the students to structure, price and risk-manage financial instruments and learn the essentials of financial risk management.
  5. Provides students with analytical tools in financial forecasting that focusing on sales predication, securities trading, designing portfolio strategies and pricing the financial instruments.
  6. Provides students with quantitative skills that can help them in solving the complex challenges of today’s financial markets.

  • Identify and appreciate key professional and ethical issues in Financial Engineering.
  • Understand the different risk sources affecting financial intuitions and corporations, including market risk, interest rate risk, credit risk, reputational and operational risk.
  • Quantify and model the financial structure of projects and corporations and for that purpose apply suitable techniques.
  • Apply the statistical and data mining methods in order to analyze and interpret statistical data.
  • Understand a range of quantitative financial disciplines, including risk management, fixed income analysis, investments and stochastic modeling in financial engineering.
  • Design mathematical models of the financial functions of organizations and solve the formulated problems by a range of quantitative techniques, including simulation and optimization techniques.
  • Undertake research and the development of new methods within the broad field of financial engineering, recognizing their roles in the innovation process.
