Virtual Reality Science

Overview

The bachelor of virtual reality science provides students with a deep understanding of theories in topics related to Virtual Reality (VR) and the technological devices used to create an interactive environment that does not really exist on the ground, using virtual and augmented reality glasses, with a number of consoles that help in interaction with this virtual environment. The program also focuses on providing students with theories and skills used in the areas of Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). It also provides students with the required learning and design experiences, techniques, tools, technologies, and programming skills employed in designing and producing semi-immersive and immersive media content, including the applications of VR and AR, games, simulations, and stories. The program also focuses on user interface (UI) design, user experience (UX) research design, modelling and animation, produce interactive digital contents, design and create 3D models, produce VR/AR applications for social media, produce dynamics soundscapes, and finally create virtual worlds using the mentioned production tools. Special emphasis will be focused on the use of programming aspect of VR and how the artificial intelligence and machine learning methods can be utilized in the field of AR/VR.

This undergraduate program in VR is prepared with a study plan of 127 credit hours distributed between theoretical and practical courses.

 

Goals

The program aims at:

  • Focusing on the programming aspect of VR/AR, mainly concerning how to construct interactions and environments using specific tools.   
  • Graduating distinguished VR/AR specialists to meet the local and global market needs.
  • Producing graduates `that can design and develop AR/VR applications for different fields, including games, social media, digital learning, advertisements, and digital media…etc.
  • Emphasizing the ‘hands on’ practical skills in order to get graduates with useful skills for their future careers.
  • Meeting the need of the Palestinian community for rare specialties, as the program is expected to serving the local and regional communities.

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME

Upon completion of this degree, the graduate is expected to be able to:

  1. Use technical tools, design and programming skills to produce VR, AR, and MR applications for different fields.
  2. Contribute in modelling and producing animation.
  3. Produce digital contents for different purposes.
  4. Design and produce educational and entertaining games.
  5. Work within a VR/AR team/ leading VR/AR team.
  6. Continue his/her graduate studies in the field of AR/VR or any related fields.
